# TMS cost by country: published examples and limits

Compare sourced prices and official billing references in the US, Canada, UK and Australia.

Updated 2026-10-29. Also on the [web page](https://tmsclinics.fyi/guides/tms-cost-by-country).

There is no single TMS course price. Compare the same protocol and quote scope. The figures below are named public examples, not national averages. Dates matter: an accessible old page is not a current quote. Do not convert these amounts as if the services were equivalent.

## US: historical published ranges

Madison Avenue TMS & Psychiatry's page, updated 21 September 2020 and still accessible when fetched on 29 October 2026, states USD 225–265 per session and USD 7,000–8,000 for a course. Those are historical figures from that page. They are not confirmed current clinic prices. Its course figure must not be treated as the product of an arbitrary number of visits.

Health Quality Ontario's 2016 economic analysis also reports historical US private-clinic prices of USD 300–400 per session. Its model is not a present-day price survey. Use these ranges only to understand why a written quote is needed.

## Canada: a published Edmonton example

Neuromed Clinic's undated FAQ, fetched on 29 October 2026, lists a session range of $75–$180 depending on the protocol. It is an Edmonton clinic page. Ask the clinic to confirm CAD, the applicable protocol and the current charge before budgeting. The page does not establish a national Canadian range or Ontario funding.

Do not infer that an insured psychiatric assessment covers the full course. Ask which visits are publicly funded and which are billed privately. Ontario's current schedule lists an initiation service; it does not supply a private-clinic course quote.

## UK: Smart TMS published course examples

Smart TMS's undated pricing page, fetched on 29 October 2026, lists a GBP 350 assessment. Its depression and anxiety table lists GBP 3,300–3,750 for an initial course of 15 sessions, depending on location. It lists the same amount for a second course of 15 sessions. The table's total including assessment is GBP 6,950–7,850.

Dividing the listed course amounts by their listed visit count gives GBP 220–250 per session for comparison only. It is not a promise that the clinic sells single sessions at that rate. The table does not decide how many visits are appropriate for you.

## Australia: a funded-clinic example and official references

Neuralia TMS's undated cost page, fetched on 29 October 2026, advertises AUD 0 out of pocket for eligible Medicare patients on an initial course. This is a conditional funded-care example, not a self-pay quote. Ask the clinic to confirm eligibility and every included service.

A numerical Australian self-pay clinic range could not be confirmed from the fetched provider pages. neurocare's FAQ says program costs depend on individual needs and asks readers to contact the clinic. Do not replace that missing quote with a guessed national range.

MBS Online provides a separate funding reference. For item 14217, the schedule updated 1 July 2026 lists a fee of AUD 184.00 and benefits of AUD 138.00 or AUD 156.40 at the listed benefit rates. The benefit span is AUD 138.00–156.40; it is not a patient price range. Initial mapping under item 14216 has a schedule fee of AUD 214.45. The clinic may charge a different amount. Ask for its charge, the benefit that applies and the resulting gap in writing.

## Build a complete quote

List assessment, mapping, prescribed sessions, repeat mapping, taper visits and follow-up. Add travel and accommodation from your own figures. Ask about deposits, missed visits, unused prepaid sessions and course changes. Keep currencies separate.

Use the cost estimator with your written USD prices. Its starting session-price range comes from the historical US example above. It does not estimate insurance payments or recommend a treatment schedule.
